THX: 'Amazing Life'

Amazing Life explores the lives of photo-realistic organisms growing from a metallic surface. As the story unfolds, the organisms grow to cover the surface of the metal, with each one communicating through their own unique sound.

Sound Design Creative Development

For this project, I worked doing creative development for each unique sound coming from the various musical organisms in this THX trailer.

Additionally, the original sound design element that I created for the butterfly wing tree leaves was used in the final piece. This sound was created by soldering a small 1" polypropylene speaker onto a quarter-inch cable. The cable was plugged into the output of my mixer, and a feedback loop was created by sending another output back to an input channel. By adjusting the gain staging and equalization, I was able to get the tiny plastic speaker to oscillate at various speeds and intensities.

The THX Amazing Life trailer has been screened before feature films worldwide.
